Email Marketing Secrets Revealed
Ok…friends…
I told you that I was going to comeback with another post and share with you the subject line of that email I wrote about in the post titled, “Cliché Copy Crap.” I am also going to give you a simple way to boost the response and readership of your email marketing campaigns.
If you aren’t using email to communicate with your customer lists you are missing out big time. You NEED to be collecting the name and email address of every customer and potential customer you can.
You have to understand that no other list in the world holds the value and profit potential that your house list of past, current and potential does.
If you come in contact with someone who expresses even the faintest interest in what you do you need to have some mechanism in place to capture their name and email info. You need to have something cheap or free to exchange for their information (permission, name and email).
Information products work really good for this because they are free to send and can be distributed via email – so it’s a logical progression for the exchange. You give me email address and I give you free information set via email.
This MUST be information they would want NOT your brochure done up in publisher.
So, now you know you need to build a house list but what do you do with it?
You send email to it!
I’m sure some of you are currently doing email newsletters and that is good. Here are seven e-mail newsletter tips that will boost readership and response.
- Don’t send your email newsletter the same time every month. Make it varied. You don’t want people getting into a routine where they know your sending something and they just delete it.
- Don’t make it look the same every time. People like “What’s New” not what’s old and boring. You must bring something fresh to them or they won’t pay attention.
- Don’t make your newsletter about you! Write your newsletter about them. The benefits to them of your product, service or content.
- Don’t use technical jargon about you, your industry or your product. You care about that, not your customers.
- Make it fun to read. Try different things each time, run contests, do give-a-ways, make offers. Put your own personality into it. The death of newsletters are corporate snoozers that are stuffy and ordinary. Be entertaining.
- Don’t use your company name as the title. Company names, titles and logos are all about you. People don’t care about you (once you realize this your marketing becomes better and you actually start making money) they care about them selves. Title your newsletter something your readers would care about.
- Don’t always send the newsletter format. Switch up what you send. Occasionally just sent a coupon offer with a dotted line around it so it looks like an offer. That’s what we are programmed to know is an offer when we see it. Just send text – like a personal message. We have found that this method works extremely well.
