Driver Obedience
by Travis Miller
OK, this seems obvious to me, but I'm going to point it out anyway. I live on a street down which people incessantly speed. It's 25 mph, but it's no rare sight to see someone going 45-50 right in front of my house. Drives me nuts. Why does it happen here? I think because my street only has houses on one side of the road, so it feels wider than other streets. Normally I'm not a big fan of speed limits, but this is out of control. Anyway -- I frequently see the same vehicle drive past again and again. And what's funny is that the vehicle has a magnet promoting a business on it. It's a dog obedience training business. This morning, as I'm walking my two little dogs, this bitch (oops...was that too strong?) goes past me at like 50. Windows down, on the cell phone, blabbing loud enough for everyone to hear the conversation as she streaks by. I'm not a branding expert...but I'm not sure this is great for your image. Hmmmm. In fact, I think it's pretty bad. I certainly won't be calling her for business (even though I could use her service). So...may as well take a moment or two and think about how you behave in public--especially when the whole world can easily identify who you are and what your business is. Funny thing...she's probably frustrated with the lack of business. Hah!
